Morgoth's own country in the north of Beleriand, spread about Angband on both sides of the Iron Mountains, with the grassland of Ard-galen to the south and an icy waste to the north.
Dor Daedeloth in the published Silmarillion, the Land of the Shadow of Horror: Morgoth's own country in the north, lying on both sides of the Iron Mountains and spread about the fortress of Angband. With Beleriand and Hithlum it made one of the three great regions of western Middle-earth, bounded by the Ered Wethrin on the west, the Ered Luin on the east, and Dorthonion, the Pass of Sirion and the March of Maedhros on the south. The Ered Engrin, which no one could climb, cut it in two. South of that wall lay Ard-galen, the wide grassland north of Beleriand; north of it stretched an unnamed icy waste that some maps call the Region of Everlasting Cold.
