Dior was the ninth Ruling Steward of Gondor, born in TA 2328 to Barahir, the eighth. He came into the rule at his father's death in TA 2412 and held it for twenty-three years, another of the Stewards whose term fell inside the Watchful Peace. He died in TA 2435 at the age of a hundred and seven. Having no son, he left no direct heir, and the office passed to his nephew Denethor I, the son of his sister Rían.
