How it opens

Túrin is the eldest child of Húrin, the Lord of Dor-lómin, and of Morwen, a proud and stern woman of the House of Bëor. After his little sister Lalaith dies of a sickness on an evil wind, Túrin finds comfort in Sador, a lame servant of the household, and later hands Sador the Elf-wrought knife that was his own birthday gift from Húrin. Then Húrin rides away with his men to join the great muster of the Elven-kings against Morgoth. In the battle King Fingon falls, Turgon escapes into the mountains while Húrin and his brother Huor hold the rear, and after Huor dies Húrin is taken alive to Angband.
