Avari
The Avari are the Elves who refused the summons west from Cuiviénen, named the Unwilling by the Eldar.
Not every Elf went west. When the summons came to leave Cuiviénen for Aman, part of the awakened Elves would not take it, and the Eldar named them Avari, the Unwilling. In Quenya they are the Avamanyar, those who would not go to Aman, set against the Amanyar who reached it and the Úmanyar who set out and never arrived. With no Valinor to shape them they lived wild in the forests of Middle-earth and left very little behind in the way of record. Scattered notices put Avari in the south of Beleriand in the First Age, and some of them merged in time with the Nandor and Sindar of Eriador and the vale of Anduin.
