Angrist was forged by Telchar of Nogrod, the finest smith of the Blue Mountains, and enchanted afterwards by other hands in that city.
Telchar of Nogrod made Angrist in the First Age, and Telchar's work was the best that ever came out of the Blue Mountains. Before the blade left the city, smiths of Nogrod described afterwards as treacherous laid a cunning enchantment on it, which is not the kind of thing an owner is told about in advance. It came in time to Curufin, son of Fëanor, who carried it at his belt. He still had it in the autumn of 465, when he and his brother Celegorm were put out of Nargothrond and rode north through the forest of Brethil, and he did not keep it much longer than that.
