Angainor was the chain the Vala Aulë made to hold Melkor within the Halls of Mandos.
Angainor was the chain made to hold Melkor within the Halls of Mandos. The Vala Aulë wrought it, and it bound Melkor for three ages after he was seized out of Utumno early in the First Age. In time the Valar judged him and set him loose again, believing that he had changed. He went back to Middle-earth instead and carried on as before, under the name Morgoth.
