Anárion is a son of Elendil the Tall, and with his father and his brother Isildur he becomes a great lord of the Men who come back over the Sea to Middle-earth.
Elrond tells the Council that the kin of Elendil found a northern realm in Arnor and a southern one in Gondor, near where the Anduin meets the sea, and that Anárion falls in the war of the Last Alliance against Sauron. His son is Meneldil, whose line in time fails. Passing the great carved likenesses of Isildur and Anárion on the river, Aragorn hails them as his sires of old.
