Golems are automatons animated by magic, built in whatever shapes and sizes their creators' purposes demand, from statue-sized guardians to considerably larger machines. The standard method starts with a statue or figurine and imbues it with power, typically through a rune engraved on the forehead, after which the construct moves at its maker's bidding. Craftsmanship matters: golems raised by unconventional means can prove unstable and slip their handlers' control. The Crimson Demon Village puts earth golems to work as reconstruction crews, and the world's scattered ruins keep less friendly specimens on patrol long after their builders are gone.
