Wiress is the victor of the 49th Hunger Games and one of District 3's tributes in the third Quarter Quell in Catching Fire. She is small and ashen-skinned with black hair, and she is an inventor whose mind runs ahead of her speech: she starts sentences she does not finish, and her district partner Beetee Latier tends to complete them for her. The other victors call her Nuts. Beetee says she is not only intelligent but intuitive, and that in her own Games she was the first tribute to work out how the arena had been built and how to use it.
