Primrose Everdeen, called Prim, is Katniss Everdeen's younger sister in The Hunger Games. The two of them live with their mother in the Seam, the poorest quarter of District 12. Prim is gentle and slight, so delicate that Katniss thinks of the community home as something that could crush her, and she is also clever and steadier than she looks. She keeps a goat named Lady, bought half dead at the Hob and nursed back to health by her, and a cat named Buttercup. Every morning before school she braids her mother's hair. When Prim's name is drawn at the reaping, Katniss volunteers in her place.
