Peacekeepers

The Peacekeepers are the Capitol's armed force in The Hunger Games, stationed in every district of Panem to enforce the law, guard Capitol property, and put down any sign of dissent. They are recruited from the Capitol itself and, in far greater numbers, from District 2, where they are trained before being posted. District recruits enlist for food, pay, or the chance to serve; Capitol recruits are harder to come by, and some sign on to have debts cleared. A Peacekeeper serves a term of twenty years, is forbidden to marry or have children during that term, and is never assigned to the district they came from. Their uniforms are white and they never wear camouflage, which suggests the Capitol wants them seen.
