Panache Barker is a trained Career tribute from District 1 in the Quarter Quell, a huge boy who kicks out a window of his train as its door shuts behind him.
Wyatt sizes him up on the platform as a heavy, left-handed crowd favourite whose temper could cost him, and guesses from the surname that he is kin to Palladium Barker, who won the crown four years before. In the shower room he struts about making crude gestures at the other boys, to the delight of the Careers, until a District 11 tribute answers him with a kick in the gut.
