Katniss Everdeen's house

The Everdeens live at the edge of the Seam in District 12, a few gates from the Meadow, the fence, and the woods past it. Katniss calls the place squat and little. There is one bedroom, where she and her sister share a canvas covered mattress and their mother sleeps apart, and outside it a tub, a cracked mirror propped against the wall, a cloth covered table, a kitchen, a hearth, and a back door. Mice and rats are a standing problem, which is most of what Buttercup is for. Her mother works out of the house as an unofficial apothecary for people in the Seam who have no other option.
