Haymitch Abernathy

Haymitch Abernathy is District 12's only living victor of the Hunger Games, the mentor assigned to the district's tributes. He arrives at the reaping drunk and disheveled, an embarrassment to the Capitol's pageantry, and at first glance he looks like no help at all to the children placed in his charge. Underneath the drinking are flashes of a sharp, watchful mind, one that understands sponsors, cameras, and how the Games are actually played.
