District 13 is the thirteenth of Panem's districts and the one the Capitol destroyed at the end of the Dark Days. Its official industry was graphite mining, though its real work was nuclear science and the manufacture of the country's weapons, and it led the rebellion that ended seventy-four years before The Hunger Games. The Capitol still broadcasts footage of its ruins across the districts.
