The Cornucopia is the metal horn at the center of a Hunger Games arena, and it marks where every Games begins. It is golden and shaped like a woven harvest horn with a curved tail, its mouth at least twenty feet high, its ridges and seams making it climbable. Tributes rise into the arena on metal plates arranged in a circle around it. Supplies are laid out so the least useful sit farthest away and the best wait at the mouth of the horn, which is the point: the Gamemakers want the tributes to fight over them. There are always weapons, and often food, water bottles, medicine, clothing, and backpacks already packed for anyone who wants to grab one and run.
