Chaff

Chaff is a victor from District 11 who won the 45th Hunger Games somewhere between the ages of fifteen and eighteen, and one of District 11's tributes in the third Quarter Quell in Catching Fire. He lost his left hand in his own Games and, Katniss Everdeen suspects, turned down the prosthetic the Capitol doctors offered him. He and Haymitch Abernathy are old friends and old drinking companions, and their idea of an introduction is a joke at Katniss's expense: Chaff kisses her on the mouth the moment Haymitch presents her, then laughs with him when she shoves him off. During training he spends most of his time with Peeta Mellark at the spear-throwing station.
