Katniss Everdeen calls him a physical wonder: he is the second largest tribute that year, visibly powerful, proficient with spears and swords, and strong enough to snap a neck with his bare hands. District 2's enthusiasm for the Games has shaped him. He is aggressive, competitive past the point of reason, and openly contemptuous of the tributes he expects to go through. He is also arrogant enough to overestimate himself, and when something does not go his way he loses his temper completely.
