Cato is the boy from District 2, one of five Careers who all far outweigh the quarry they are chasing.
Hunting Katniss with a pack of other tributes, he waves away the silver bow the girl from District 1 offers him, saying he will do better with the short, heavy sword at his belt, and starts up the tree after her. A branch gives under his weight and he crashes to the ground, then gets up swearing. Soon afterward he comes slashing through the brush, soaking wet and badly stung below one eye.
