Burdock Everdeen is Haymitch's younger friend from District 12, a boy with a high, clear singing voice who first coaxes Haymitch past the district fence and out to the woods.
When he sings in the trees, the mockingjays take up his tune. He runs a game business, has lately added wildcrafting, bringing chamomile and other plants to the apothecary, and he treasures a dozen arrow tips forged by Tam Amber. Haymitch teases him about Asterid March, the town girl he is sweet on, and on reaping day Burdock stands beside him in a frayed suit.
