Ampert Latier
A young tribute from District 3 in the 50th Hunger Games of Sunrise on the Reaping, one of two boys drawn under the Quarter Quell's doubled reaping.
Ampert Latier is a young tribute from District 3 in the 50th Hunger Games, the Games at the center of Sunrise on the Reaping. That year is the second Quarter Quell, a twenty-fifth-anniversary edition of the Games with a twist: each district must send twice the usual number of tributes, and Ampert is one of the two boys drawn from District 3. He is strikingly small for a tribute, barely five feet tall, with a voice puberty has not yet changed, and among the doubled field of children shipped to the Capitol he stands out for just how young he seems. He is also bright, curious, and openly kind, quicker to treat the tributes around him as people than as rivals, even inside a system built to turn children against one another.
