Walden Macnair is a wizard employed by the Ministry of Magic as an executioner, the official sent out once a magical creature has been condemned. He is tall and muscular, with a thin black moustache, and he brings an axe to his appointments. Rubeus Hagrid describes him as violent and bloodthirsty, and Macnair took the post for the plain reason that he enjoys the killing.
