Summoning Charm
A charm, incantation Accio, that calls an object to the caster from across a room or out of sight.
The Summoning Charm, cast with the incantation Accio, calls an object to the person casting it, whether it lies in plain sight or somewhere out of view, in which case the caster names it aloud. Harry Potter drills the charm in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. It demands real thought behind it, since the caster has to picture the object clearly before it will come. Fourth years learn it in Charms at Hogwarts from The Standard Book of Spells, Grade 4, and revise it in fifth year before their O.W.L.s. Its opposite is the Banishing Charm, and it is one of the oldest spells known to wizarding society.
