St Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries is wizarding Britain's hospital, hidden in the middle of Muggle London. The way in is through the window of Purge and Dowse Ltd, a permanently closed department store, where visitors state their business to a dummy in the display. Inside, Healers in lime-green robes work floors sorted by mishap, from artefact accidents and creature-induced injuries on the lower levels to spell damage higher up, all under an emblem of a crossed wand and bone. The hospital serves the whole magical population, and its waiting room, full of wizards whistling steam or sprouting the wrong limbs, says a great deal about everyday magical Britain.
