Shrinking Solution

The Shrinking Solution is a potion that reduces whoever drinks it to a smaller version of themselves. Brewed correctly it is bright green; brewed badly it can be poisonous. Its most practical use is livestock, since a wizard with a good batch can carry an entire herd of pigs in a pocket. Shrivelfigs go into it, and the potioneer Zygmunt Budge, working in the 1500s, claimed his own version was the best anyone could find, its strength coming from an unorthodox stir after the Shrivelfigs went in. Budge once spilled a little on the grass outside his house and shrank a whole flock of sheep to lambs the size of woolly mice, which he then wore as ear-warmers through the cold winters at Hermetray. The potion has served worse purposes too. Samuel Plunkett, persecuted by a Muggle village, poured a quantity down the village well and chased the shrunken villagers about in hobnail boots.
