The Minister for Magic, and a hardened Auror before that, who spent most of his career hunting Dark wizards.
Rufus Scrimgeour is the Minister for Magic in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, and a career Auror before that, spending most of his working life on the trail of Dark wizards and rising to head the British Auror Office. He moves with a rangy, loping grace and a slight limp, sometimes with a walking stick, and he puts people in mind of an old lion: grey streaks through a mane of tawny hair, bushy eyebrows, and keen yellowish eyes behind wire rimmed spectacles. Albus Dumbledore calls him a man of action. He is more decisive and more forceful than his predecessor at the Ministry, and he cares a great deal about how the Ministry is seen.
