A manor above the village of Little Hangleton, empty for fifty years since the three Riddles were found dead in its drawing room, kept up by a gardener the villagers have never stopped suspecting.
The Riddle House is a fine old manor set on the hillside above the village of Little Hangleton, and it has stood all but empty for fifty years. The Riddles were a wealthy Muggle family who owned more than half the valley, and the villagers thought them snobs and disliked them accordingly. Thomas, Mary and Tom Riddle Snr were all three found dead in the drawing room one morning in 1943; the police could not establish how they had died, and the family's gardener, Frank Bryce, was arrested and then released for want of evidence. Bryce has stayed on ever since, keeping the grounds in good order for a succession of absent owners while the house itself goes to damp and disrepair, its windows boarded and tiles gone from the roof. The village still gossips about the place, and about Bryce.
