Phineas Nigellus Black

Phineas Nigellus Black is a former Headmaster of Hogwarts whose portrait hangs in the Headmaster's office. He held the post in the nineteenth century, and the school remembers him as the least popular Headmaster in its thousand year history. The portrait shows a clever looking wizard with black hair, shrewd narrow eyes, thin eyebrows and a pointed beard, dressed in the green and silver of Slytherin House. He is snide and sarcastic, with little patience for the troubles of the young, whom he finds tedious and self absorbed. He takes real pride in learning for its own sake and thinks poorly of anyone he judges ignorant. He married Ursula Flint, and they had five children.
