Peter Pettigrew

Peter Pettigrew is known not in person but in recollection. He is spoken of as a wizard of the generation before Harry's, a Hogwarts student who kept company with James Potter's circle of friends, a small man remembered more for the company he kept than for any brilliance of his own. The account holds that he died in the calamities surrounding the end of the first war against Voldemort, and that he is honoured posthumously by the wizarding world. He exists only as a name in other people's conversations about those years, a figure in a sad and much retold story from a war Harry was too young to remember.
