Pepperup Potion clears a common cold and warms the person who drinks it straight through. The side effect is unmistakable and lasts for hours: steam pours out of the drinker's ears well after the cold itself has gone. Madam Pomfrey reaches for it whenever a spate of colds runs through Hogwarts, and it is handed round after anything that leaves people wet and chilled through.
