Ollivanders is the Diagon Alley wand shop whose sign boasts fine wands since 382 B.C. Each wand it sells holds a core of unicorn hair, phoenix feather or dragon heartstring, and no two are alike.
Hagrid calls it the only place for wands, and it is the last stop on Harry's first shopping trip there. Behind peeling gold lettering the shop is tiny and dusty, with one spindly chair, a lone wand resting on a worn purple cushion behind the glass, and thousands of slim boxes stacked to the ceiling. Mr. Ollivander, an old man with pale, shining eyes, recalls the wands of both of Harry's parents.
