Ollivanders

Ollivanders is the wand shop of Diagon Alley, where Harry Potter is fitted for his first wand in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. The family has sold wands since 382 B.C.; by the account of the present owner, an ancestor arrived with the Romans and set up a stall to supply British wizards, whose own wands were crude by comparison. The stall grew over generations into a permanent shop passed down through the family, with a second branch trading in Hogsmeade during the nineteenth century, and the Ollivanders are widely acknowledged as the best wandmakers in Britain. The Diagon Alley shop is run by Garrick Ollivander through most of the twentieth century.
