Mimbulus mimbletonia
A very rare magical plant, thought to be Assyrian in origin, which pulsates, squirms and croons when touched, and squirts foul-smelling Stinksap from the boils on its surface at the least prod.
Mimbulus mimbletonia is a very rare magical plant, thought to have come originally from Assyria. Even as a young sprout it pulsates and squirms, and it makes odd crooning noises when touched. Its defence is Stinksap, a dark green liquid that is not poisonous but smells like rancid manure, and which squirts from the boils on the plant's surface at the least prod. Seedlings want plenty of light, excellent drainage, high temperatures and very little moisture. The boils form as the plant flowers, and when they look ready to burst it has reached maturity; at full bloom they are harvested as a potion ingredient. Hogwarts covers the handling of the plant, and the extraction of Stinksap from it, in third-year Herbology.
