Manticore

Two breeds of Manticore are known, and both are counted among the most dangerous creatures in the wizarding world. The commoner sort has the head of a man, the body of a lion and the tail of a scorpion, and its sting kills on the spot; it can speak, and its intelligence would qualify it as a Being, but it is so aggressive towards people that it is classed as a beast instead. It sings softly to itself while it eats. Its hide repels every known charm, which makes it near impossible to subdue with magic, though anything large and heavy dropped on it will bring it down, and bright light mesmerises it easily. The other breed resembles a monstrous crimson scorpion covered in quills, with two pairs of pincers, three stingers and long antennae that keep moving even when cut off. The Manticore came originally from Greece and is as rare as the Chimaera.
