A Muggle-born witch and the younger sister of Petunia Dursley, she marries James Potter, and the two die in Voldemort's attack when their son Harry is a year old, the same night the Dark wizard's first reign of terror ends. Harry grows up being told a car crash took his parents; the truth about that night reaches him along with the rest of his inheritance when the wizarding world finds him again. Nearly everyone who knew Lily tells Harry the same two things: that she was a gifted witch and a kind one, and that Harry has her eyes, bright green, a resemblance remarked on by strangers wherever in the wizarding world he goes.
