Knight Bus

The Knight Bus is a triple decker purple bus that picks up stranded witches and wizards, and Harry Potter rides it in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. Anyone in need of it puts out their wand hand at the kerb, much as a Muggle hails a bus in Britain, though seats can also be booked in advance. It travels very fast, obstacles jump aside in front of it, and it squeezes through gaps far too narrow for it. Inside there are beds and curtained windows by night and loose seats by day, and passengers and luggage are thrown about at every turn, with the hot chocolate going everywhere. The Ministry's Department of Magical Transportation runs it. It was commissioned in 1865 on the proposal of Minister Dugald McPhail, over the objections of pure-blood purists who called it a Muggle-esque outrage in the Daily Prophet.
