Invisibility Cloaks are rare, valuable cloaks that hide the wearer from sight, and Harry's, a shining silvery cloth, arrives at Christmas with an unsigned note saying it belonged to his father.
Wrapped in it, Harry looks in the mirror and sees only his head hanging in midair, and once he pulls it over his head even that vanishes. Ron says he would give anything for one, and calls such cloaks really rare and really valuable. That first night Harry wears it into the dark library to search the Restricted Section, where the lamp he carries seems to float along by itself.
