Horace Slughorn
Horace Slughorn is a short, round old wizard with a great silver walrus moustache, a colleague of Dumbledore's who comes out of retirement to teach at Hogwarts again.
Dumbledore finds him in an empty Muggle house, disguised as an armchair amid staged wreckage meant to fool any Death Eaters who come calling. He keeps moving from house to house, never staying more than a week. Lily Evans ranks among his favourite students, and Dumbledore warns Harry that Slughorn has a habit of handpicking talented and ambitious students for a club of favourites, making introductions and always taking some benefit in return, and will try to collect Harry too.
