Hogwarts Express
The Hogwarts Express is a scarlet steam engine waiting at Platform Nine and Three-Quarters in King's Cross, leaving at eleven o'clock to carry students to school on the first of September and home for the summer.
Getting aboard takes nerve, since the only way in is to walk straight at the solid-looking barrier that divides platforms nine and ten and keep going. Beyond waits a crowd of owls, cats, heavy trunks and chattering families, and once the train moves a woman with a trolley sells Chocolate Frogs, Pumpkin Pasties and Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans while the neat fields outside give way to woods, rivers and dark green hills.
