Hogsmeade

Hogsmeade is the village that sits within walking distance of Hogwarts. Third years gain the right to visit on selected weekends, provided a parent or guardian has signed a permission form. It is the only settlement in Britain with no Muggle residents at all, a picturesque cluster of cottages and shops in the Scottish hills, founded by tradition by the wizard Hengist of Woodcroft. Students head for Honeydukes sweetshop, Zonko's joke shop, and the Three Broomsticks inn, which serves foaming tankards of butterbeer. At the village's edge stands the Shrieking Shack, a boarded-up house with a reputation as the most severely haunted building in the country.
