This Golden Snitch is used in the first Quidditch match of the 1991-1992 season at Hogwarts, Gryffindor against Slytherin, in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. Harry Potter and the Slytherin Seeker Terence Higgs both sight it early in the game, and Harry is almost on it when Marcus Flint fouls him and the Snitch disappears in the confusion. Partway through the match Harry's Nimbus 2000 starts bucking and rolling under him, and he is flung about in the air before he can get it back under control. He finishes the game by catching the Snitch in his mouth, an unorthodox catch that the referee allows, and Gryffindor take the match.
