Gregory Goyle is a thickset, mean-looking new first year in Slytherin, a good deal bigger than Harry and quick to help himself to other people's food.
On the train he and Crabbe stand on either side of Malfoy looking like bodyguards, and when Goyle grabs for Ron's Chocolate Frogs, Scabbers the rat sinks its teeth into his knuckle and hangs on. At the Sorting, Malfoy heads straight over to sit with his two friends among the Slytherins.
