Goblet of Fire

The Goblet of Fire is the impartial judge that chooses the champions for the Triwizard Tournament, and it gives Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire its title. It is a wooden cup, kept in a jewelled casket when it is out of use, and it burns with blue white flames to the brim once it is lit. A student enters by writing their name on a piece of parchment and dropping it into the flame. When the moment comes the goblet throws back one name from each school in a rush of red fire, and whoever is chosen is held to a binding magical contract they cannot withdraw from. For the 1994 tournament an age restriction applies, enforced by an Age Line; Fred and George Weasley try to get around it with an Ageing Potion and are flung back aged into old men. Once the champions are chosen the goblet goes out until the next tournament.
