Dirk Cresswell is a Muggle-born wizard who went through Hogwarts in the 1970s and was one of Horace Slughorn's all-time favourite students there. He is fluent in Gobbledegook, which is unusual enough among wizards to be worth remarking on, and after leaving school he joined the Ministry of Magic, rising to Head of the Goblin Liaison Office in succession to Cuthbert Mockridge. Colleagues who know him, Arthur Weasley among them, put him down as a very good wizard indeed.
