Devil's Snare

Devil's Snare is a magical plant whose mass of soft, springy tendrils and vines binds and strangles whatever touches it. The creepers have some sense of touch, and the plant answers resistance with more force: the harder a victim struggles, the faster and tighter it binds them, while a victim who keeps their head and relaxes finds the grip loosening. It prefers dark, damp places, stops still in front of bright light and recoils from the heat of fire, so a well placed light or flame spell drives it back off its victims. It resembles the harmless Flitterbloom closely enough to be mistaken for it. The plant is not common, though Herbologists have access to it.
