Babbitty Rabbitty

Babbitty Rabbitty is the heroine of Babbitty Rabbitty and her Cackling Stump, one of the stories in The Tales of Beedle the Bard, which wizarding children grow up on much as Muggle children grow up on their own fairy tales. In the tale she is a wise old witch who works as washerwoman to a Muggle king foolish enough that she has no trouble at all seeing through him, and she keeps the palace linen soft, fragrant and white by getting the sheets to wash themselves. She is careful about how she does it, because the kingdom is dangerous ground for her sort: the king keeps a Brigade of Witch-Hunters, and a charlatan at court is trading on his ignorance.
