The Alliance is the movement of Dark witches and wizards gathered around Gellert Grindelwald in the early twentieth century, its most devoted members calling themselves his acolytes. They want the magical world brought out of hiding, the International Statute of Wizarding Secrecy torn up and non-magical people ruled rather than avoided, all under the slogan For the Greater Good. Nurmengard Castle is their base, and Aurors work against them.
