Acromantula

The Acromantula is a giant spider native to the rainforests of Southeast Asia, particularly the dense jungle of Borneo. It is thought to have been bred by wizards to guard dwellings and treasure hoards, well before the Ban on Experimental Breeding of 1965, and it has a taste for human flesh. The first recorded sighting dates to 1794. Females grow larger than males and lay up to a hundred soft eggs the size of beach balls, which hatch in six to eight weeks and are classed as Non-Tradeable Goods. Acromantulas favour dark, quiet places, spinning large dome shaped webs in thick jungle and heavy forest. Their eight eyes give the runic alphabet its symbol for the number eight.
