Pestiferous Vine

The Pestiferous Vine is a collective mind-control monster. It looks like a plant, but it is a hybrid of a fungus and a kind of plant with no earthly equivalent. It releases mold spores that infect parasitic worms, and the worms in turn infect other mobs, binding all three together in a tri-parasitic relationship. What follows depends on the mob and the kind of worm, and the possible combinations run into the billions. These vines are real organisms, not inventions of the dungeon, and they are a well-worn trope of crawl shows. Like other plant monsters, a vine is easy to kill for anyone who knows its particular trick.
