Hump Town is a town of patchwork metal, entered through an arched door that visitors knock on twice.

Hump Town sits behind corrugated walls, with a large dark box every few dozen feet along the top that looks like a lookout tower. In a storm the boxes are shut tight. The way in is a big double doorway set into an alcove that keeps off most of the wind, under a crude sign. Its knocker is a mallet like one for a giant drum, hanging on a chain beside the entrance. The door echoes loud and deep when struck, and it opens inward.

Inside, a storm is far milder than out in the open, though the wind howls around the town and sand rains through in a dozen small spots, covering the ground. The camel who keeps the gate carries a long spear and a long tube that looks like a homemade bazooka.
