First Floor
The First Floor of the Dungeon is accessed from the surface-level staircases that populate the Earth after the Transformation, and is considered a tutorial floor.
On the First Floor, the doors slam shut as soon as Carl steps in after Donut, and the light from the entrance room gives way to a dusk-like dimness. Several branches lead off the main hall, and a blinking light shows near the first of them.
A new voice, male and overly enthusiastic, much like a game show host, welcomes him to the floor. Its words float in front of him and sound in his mind at the same moment, like subtitles that cannot be closed, and only shutting his eyes makes them go away. A countdown timer in the upper right of his vision reads 4 days, 23 hours, 48 minutes when it appears. Donut swipes at the air in front of her, so she sees it too.
By one account, the work of changing a crawler's race waits for the third floor because it would be wasted on anyone who gets eaten on the First Floor by a flytrap.
