Tamalane is one of the senior Reverend Mothers of the Bene Gesserit Council and an adviser to the Mother Superior. She is old, near the end of her physical life, withdrawn and sparing with words. Age has turned her judgment philosophical and detached, so that she works now more as an observer than as a hand on events, and neither her competence nor her loyalty has gone anywhere.
